Armoire and Wardrobe Disassembly
A tall armoire can be too large for a stair turn even when it fits the room. Furniture Surgeon assesses disassembly and reassembly for large furniture in its existing Massachusetts and Rhode Island service area.
Identify how the cabinet is built
Share dimensions, material and photos of the front, back and accessible connections. Include mirrors, glass, integral lighting and any building attachments. A cabinet built as one joined unit may offer different options from a modular wardrobe.
Protect loose and fragile contents
Empty personal belongings before the appointment and ask how removable shelves, drawers and fragile panels should be prepared. Tell the team about loose joints, existing cracks and previous repairs. Do not tilt a heavy cabinet to inspect inaccessible parts.
Plan access and placement
Measure the route and note staircase turns, ceilings and destination space. Describe who handles transport and where reassembly is required. Ask the team to confirm feasibility, service availability and the item-specific quote before scheduling.

Common questions
Can antique armoires always come apart?
No. Age, joinery, condition and previous repairs can limit the options. Ask for an assessment.
Does removing the doors make the cabinet smaller?
It can reduce weight or protrusions, but may not reduce the main frame dimensions. The route still needs assessment.
Are glass and mirrored parts important to mention?
Yes. Include them in photos and the service description so handling requirements can be discussed.
